 Hello there again. To come up with a pitch for my film was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. COVID really sucks because I don’t want to put my family at risk by working with anyone or getting any outside cast. I had to come up with an idea that my mom can execute since my two other siblings are too young to play a part. Another reason this was stressful was because my mom looks older than the movie pitch idea I had in mind at first. At first I wanted to do a movie about “The It girl who is adored by the boys and envied by the girls who ended up dead. Who killed her? The list is long.” As you can tell, a woman in her late 30s isn’t going to convince anyone that’s she’s a high schooler. Creative Critical R eflection 1.  How does your video  use or challenge conventions AND  how does it represent social groups or issues? My music video to the song “Lockdown” by Koffee uses Reggae conventions throughout the whole thing. The reggae genre was made in Jamaica and that was the setting for my video. The location for a reggae video is commonly recorded on the island (Jamaica) or a similar location that gives the same island vibes. Another way it challenges reggae conventions is by being surrounded by nature. After my actor woke up and got ready for the day, they were always outside. it is rare to watch a raggae video and see the main person staying in the house. From running to travleing to a known landmark, my music video made the audience feel as if they are always outside.   For this music video, I had to go through 30 minutes' worth of footage. For some of the footage, I realized slo-mo wasn't the best option for them because I had to end up speeding it up. When I sped them up, I added transitions to make sure it doesn't look choppy. When filming I made sure I had different camera angles and movements. In the beginning, I started with a birds-eye view by standing on top of the bed. My actor was sleeping and I was hoping to get the alarm ringing in the back of the music but it did not. Fast forward to the running shots this was to put in multiple angles and give off a calm vibe. Running is associated with having a good routine and being on track to wellness. The whole morning routine was to bring the audience along with me on my Jamaica morning routine during the lockdown. Today is the day I film the second part of my music video. I’m proud of how everything came out and how much footage I got. I know when I edit the video it will give off the calm and peaceful vibes I was hoping to go with. I had to take school off since the car ride to the country ( Saint Elizabeth) was going to be far. Since school started this was the earliest I had to wake up to go somewhere and it was 5 am. After piling into the car and going on to our 4-hour journey I finally reached the Bamboo forest. The Bamboo trees are as tall as 4 average height males maybe even taller and they bend to create a tunnel or arch over the wide road. I drive the road every time I come to Jamaica to visit my family in the country and every single time I’m taken away by how beautiful it is.   Today was my last day for creating the music video. I went to the Bamboo Forest and I got more photos than I even needed. You never occurred to me that five seconds it’s really short so I can’t like 20 seconds worth of footage driving down the forest. After that, I drove some more but this time I filmed in slow Mo. I stopped at a local merchant's where I found her chopping up Coconuts. I knew I needed to film her because when it came to editing this would be perfect for the video. I got a close-up of the locals drinking out of the coconut and while editing I thought about putting myself back to empathize with the taste of fresh water. I have yet to find a sound that didn’t sound too fake like a cartoon but more natural. The locals were nice enough to let me film them and they even got a film of mine.   Filming Blog   Over thanksgiving break I was complicating if I should film. Due to it being a holiday season, Jamaica curfew started earlier so if I was to go on the road and film, I might take awhile to come home. If you are caught out during curfew you have to pay a fine which was raised o $51 US dollars since it is the holiday time. My house was filled with family who stayed the week because we haven’t seen them at all during the two months we been here. My mom also took this break as an opportunity to bring us sight seeing in Jamaica since we didn’t have school. During break I came down with something. My throat was sore, nose was stuffy, and every time I talked I got a headache. I got tested for COVID since I was going to be around people and did not want to containment my family. This had been my fifth COVID test and it came back negative. Don’t worry all my COVID tests before this one were to get approved to travel and we kept having to go back and do a new one since ...

 

 For my props, I will be using a Jamaica dress with the Rasta colors on it. The Rasta colors are red, green, yellow, and black. A hairstyle that connects to the culture is locs which I will also be wearing. The community will be in the background but due to corona I will not be interacting with them as much. The last prop I plan to use is fruits that remind you of Jamaica. 5     In my commercial, I will have one main person to focus on. The muse will have on a dress with slippers which is common for the culture here to wear. The muse will have no makeup on to give off a natural and fresh look that compliments the laid back video.  I am doing a music video for the reggae song Lockdown by Koffee. In this music video I want to focus on the strong influential culture that Jamaica has and makes everyone smile. I will also adding in clips from the damage that the global crisis is doing to the country. This will let people know that everything is not peaches and cream and that their favorite vacation spot is going to be destroyed if we don’t act now.   When it comes to reggae, the music usually has a meaning full message they’re trying to get across which happens to be peaceful, and a feel good way also know as “irie” in Jamaica. It’s time to plan the music video of a lifetime. For this assignment I chose to work by myself since it would less of hassle. I am currently in Jamaica since school is online and I’m able to do it from anywhere. I’ve been here from the beginning of October and will not be returning to Florida until January 2021. Working with someone in Florida would be very complicated so I’m pretty sure working by myself is the best option. The song that I chose to do is locked down by Koffee.   Who knew so many things could go wrong in one day. My initial commercial was a hair extensions commercial but it changed to a bath and body works lotion commercial. Friday morning, I washed all the wigs that I was going to use and combed them out to air dry them so they were     perfect for the camera. Filming day was Saturday but a tropical storm was coming so it was nonstop rain. The scene at the beach was a no go and the whole commercial had to be scraped. The lighting was terrible inside the house due to how gloomy it was so my backup plan was not going to work either. After trying to film and see how it would come out, I realized how bad it was so I didn’t use the project at all.    The opening scene will be a close up shot of the hair extensions such as a red bob wig, a wavy wig, and a straight wig. The wigs will appear to be in perfect condition with a shiny bounce. The camera will then start to move to focus on each individual piece. While filming this, the wigs will be placed on a plain background so all the focus is on them.  The second scene is where I introduce my model who will be demonstrating how to put on one of the wigs. The location of this scene will be in the bathroom because that where most people decide to get ready and do their makeup.   Planning Blog Props: For this hair extensions commercial, I will be using wigs and faux hair as the main props. Other props will be hair supplies to put on the wig such as freeze spray, hair glue, lace cap, and a mirror. Costumes:  In my commercial, I will have two females as the main focus. Our models will wear the hai extensions along with vacation styled clothes. The will be barefooted in some scenes or have on slippers/heels depending on the outfit. We will also have our models wear a light face of makeup just to coverup any blemishes. I am doing a hair extensions commercial for the brand Bougie Babe. In a hair extensions commercial, the audience sees a lifestyle that is portrayed by the companies theme and the person in the commercial has in amazing and shiny hair extensions.  When it comes to the setting of these commercials, the models are in scenes such as the process of getting the hair done, a photo shoot with a white background, and finally the scene that relates to the brand which can be a beautiful day at the beach with the hair bouncing. This is because the company wants the audience to believe they can live this life of happiness and confidence too if they buy their hair.  Props for these commercials includes: blow dryers, wand curlers, freeze spray, and so on.
